6 MONTHS TO GO

We recently flew to MN for a wedding planning weekend and here are all my takeaways! The most important reminder is that wedding planning is a big task that comes with lots of emotions. Booking amazing vendors and starting tasks early are KEY! My encouragement is it won't all be amazing moments, and that's okay! Talking through expectations and every decision together as a couple will set you up well in preparation for making these final decisions.
We did ALL THE THINGS, so here is a breakdown, as well as the big tasks we have left to do with 6 months to go!
FIRST DRESS FITTING:
They recommended attending the fitting with limited makeup, no lotions, deodorant, or perfumes
Bring your wedding shoes and earrings
If you are adding anything or doing unique alterations, have pictures to show them!
RENTAL MEETING:
If you are planning on renting a dance floor, chairs, chargers, linens, napkins, etc. look into this early on in your planning process
Think through the flow of your venue and guest experience to decide where you might want to upgrade items. For example, a specialty linen for your welcome table, cake table, or sweetheart table
Prioritize! If you can’t fit all the upgrades you're hoping for in your budget, choose one that will make the biggest impact in your design. I typically recommend upgrading either your:
Chairs
Chargers
Specialty tables- welcome, cake, sweetheart or head table
TASTING:
Look at the catering menu beforehand to know what options you have, as well as pricing for each option
If there is a vision you had in mind, or a menu item you specifically want, ask ahead of time to see if they can accommodate it
VENUE MEETING:
Have ideas for your layout, know your guest count, and think through the flow of your wedding
Walking through the space to help visualize the flow, each aspect of your wedding and thinking through your guest experience is very helpful
WHAT DO WE HAVE LEFT TO DO?
So much.. but we are taking it one step at a time. Our next 5 tasks are:
Design invitation suite and wedding signage
Decide on Jesse and his groomsmen tuxes
Purchase wedding bands
Schedule final floral meeting
Hair and makeup trial
If you found this blog post helpful and would like to talk through next steps in your wedding planning process, I'd love to book a consultation with you! My coordination clients also all receive a month by month checklist to stay on track and organized in the planning process.
Good job! That was helpful!
