LET'S TALK PHOTOGRAPHY

Apart from a wedding planner or coordinator, I personally believe that a photographer is the most important vendor, and one I would absolutely not skimp on. Your photographer is the vendor that will capture the memories, emotions, and moments that last forever! They create the heirloom piece that allows your wedding to live on. It is the photos that you'll show your kids and grandkids, the photos that will hang on the walls transforming your house into a home, the photos that you will look at when you reminisce each anniversary, the photos that captures your loved ones in that moment of time, and the photos that will bring you right back to that day in an instant.
When I began researching for our photographer, I was looking for a specific photography style. I wanted timeless, editorial, candid moments captured. However, I also wanted the classic photos that would be in our wedding album for years to come. I was drawn towards clean editing that was not trending. I started my search on Instagram and once I narrowed down a few favorites, I searched on their websites. It was important to me to see each photographer's portfolio for that time of year and potentially our same venue. I wanted to see how they handled lighting, creativity in their photos that would make our wedding feel unique and special, as well as how their processes worked.
Besides the photography being an heirloom piece, it is also what captures the details you have spent tireless hours on. Every decision you've made, design element present, and person there. To me it was important that all of these aspects were reflected well in the photography.
We scheduled inquiry calls with our favorite photographers we found, and loved most of them that we talked to! But what stood out the most about our photographer was her processes, confidence, and care. We knew she could handle the chaos of a wedding day and create something beautiful. She was invested in our vision for the day and energized by our ideas. She jumped right on board to our dreams and executed flawlessly. We truly felt like we would be taken care of that day. Your photographer is the vendor you will spend the most amount of time with that day so it is important you also connect well with them!
To all the brides currently searching for their dream photographer, take your time and remember the investment you are making.
