After taking in the moment, as well as the time to celebrate with family and friends it was so exciting to start the planning process! Regardless of the length of your engagement, the first few months will hold quite a few decisions. I am not going to lie, it was a little more overwhelming than I anticipated. But once these big decisions fall into place it is so fun to start to see the overall vision. It is important to step back and remember the whole point of the planning - you are marrying your very best friend! While there will be times wedding planning will be stressful, it is important to take one decision at a time.

So, here is what we have completed:

  • Completed our budget plan

  • Started our monthly checklist and spreadsheet

  • Created our wedding gmail

  • Compiled our guest list

  • Researched and toured venues

  • Researched key vendors and collected information

  • Signed our day of coordinator contract and paid the deposit

  • Signed our ceremony contract and paid the deposit

  • Signed our reception contract and paid the deposit

  • Signed our rehearsal dinner contract and the paid deposit

  • Signed our florist contract and paid the deposit

  • Signed hair and makeup contract and the paid deposit

  • Decided on our DJ

  • Decided on our videographer

  • We have had 4 calls with different photographers, and are still deciding

  • We have reached out to transportation options, rental companies, and thought about accommodations

  • We have also scheduled our engagement party, sent out invites and started planning the celebration!!

    • I want all my events to be cohesive and very us! So it is fun to think through each aspect of the planning, events and wedding itself.

Things we are trying to do to make planning fun!

  • Create dates out of wedding planning such as dance lessons, cake tasting, or testing our signature cocktails

  • Continue to date each other - not every time you are together or every date conversation needs to include wedding planning

  • Dance together to songs you’d like for your first dance and create a playlist of song ideas for the reception

Our next steps:

  • Decide on our photographer

  • Sign DJ contract and reserve cold sparks

  • Decide on rentals and sign contract + pay deposit

  • Sign videographer contract and pay deposit

  • Finalize transportation as well as look into accommodations
